    To elaborate on my earlier statement, the point I was trying to make is that with the democratization of technology, the distance between those in power and the common person is decreasing. I have at my disposal many of the same tools of communication, media, social organization, etc. that were once only in the hands of the elites. As a result, the high and mighty seem less intimidating and unassailable, which leads to phenomena such as we are seeing in Iran and Xinjiang. The one person left who does have access to rare and unimaginable forms of power is the President of the United States. While most of the elites seem commonplace and all too human, he continues to hold sway over our imaginations. That is what I meant to say. :)
